Maggie’s List Proudly Endorses Tonia Khouri for Illinois’ 11th Congressional District

(Washington, DC) – Maggie’s List, a federal political action committee dedicated to electing conservative women to Congress, is proud to announce the Maggie’s List endorsement of Tonia Khouri in her campaign for U.S. Congress in Illinois’ 11th Congressional District.

Tonia Khouri states, “I am honored to have Maggie’s List’s endorsement. Having the endorsement and support of Maggie’s List in my race for Congress is both exciting and inspiring because other accomplished, informed and politically active women stand with me in this race. This endorsement gives me even greater confidence that together we can win and bring our voice to Washington for less government, personal responsibility and strong national security. Something I also take very seriously is the example we are setting for our daughters of the importance of their voice and their civic duty.”

“Tonia Khouri is a proven leader who brings dedication and heart to Illinois’ 11th Congressional District,” states Sandra B. Mortham, Chairman of Maggie’s List and former Florida Secretary of State. “Her exemplary public service as an elected member of the DuPage County Board – where she Chairs the Economic Development Committee, and on this board of Choose DuPage underscore her relentless leadership on issues—such as creating jobs, fighting a rising business state income tax, and ensuring education for our children—make her the right candidate to represent the District’s citizens and interests. Maggie’s List is proud to stand with Tonia Khouri, who we all know is a hard-working mom, small business owner and community advocate, in her campaign to serve Illinois’ 11th Congressional District as a conservative. In Congress, Tonia will stand for fiscal conservatism, less government, more personal responsibility and strong national security.”

Born and raised in Illinois, Tonia Khouri and her four brothers grew up in a proud, middle class family. Her father, a Marine, and her mother, a farmer from Princeton, IL instilled in her the values of honesty, hard work and determination. Tonia and her husband Joe of 23 years, who reside in Aurora, teach these same values to their three children, Stephanie, Tony and Paul. Tonia and Joe started their business with one man and one truck. Since that time, the company has grown to serve over 22,000 Illinois customers.

As Chairman of DuPage County Economic Development Committee, Tonia has a proven record of fighting for job growth and less regulation, enabling businesses to do what they do best – create jobs. Tonia is an active member of the Naperville and Aurora Chambers of Commerce, Rotary, Naperville 100 Women Who Care, and she supports many local charities that build stronger communities. Her motto is being “locally focused, globally aware.” The Khouri family resides in Aurora, IL.

“As a business owner and elected official, I have a unique balance of experience and practical understanding of how the private and public sector can work together. As a woman with that perspective, I bring yet another dimension to the issues affected by government. I’m a mom of three children. What I want for all our children is pretty simple: I want our children to grow up safe, get a good education without breaking the bank, and find a job that will present them with opportunities to fulfill their dreams and live up to their full potential. Endless data show that diverse teams make better decisions, which in turn, bring better results. I’m all about results. Women don’t have time for anything less,” says Tonia.
