Katie Britt, Jen Kiggans Advance in Tuesday Elections

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C. – Maggie’s List, the country's leading political action committee focused on electing conservative women to federal public office, is pleased to congratulate candidates Katie Britt and Jen Kiggans on their primary election wins on Tuesday. Britt now advances to the general election as the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate from Alabama and Kiggans as the Republican candidate for Virginia’s 2nd House District.

“We are thrilled for Katie Britt and Jen Kiggans, two hard-working women who understand that the only way forward in these times of economic uncertainty is to enact policies of fiscal responsibility and limited government,” said Sandra Mortham, Chairman of Maggie’s List.

“Further, Maggie’s List chose to endorse Katie Britt in February 2022 – long before other prominent conservatives decided to support her because we believe that record of growing jobs and standing up for small business as the president and CEO of Alabama’s business council has prepared her well to enact conservative policy in the U.S. Senate. We look forward to supporting both Britt and Kiggans in their respective elections this fall,” Mortham continued.

Maggie’s List has seen a dramatic rise in the number of conservative women running for office during the last several election cycles. In light of the #MeToo movement, women’s activism is more important than ever.

According to the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP), women comprise more than 56% of all voters, but less than 27% of our representation. Maggie’s List’s mission is to equalize those numbers and empower women to take a stand and run for what they believe in.
